help, help. what must the thesis of a persuasive essay do? not the definition of it.

OpenStudy (animelover98):

It must draw the reader in with the first line. Such as a statistic "67% of the world suffers from hunger each day." Or a quote "Be the change you want to see in the world-Ghandi". Then it must inform the reader of the topic. Such as "67% of the world suffers from hunger each day." The city of New York needs a service project to donate food. The city would benefit from it, the mayor would receive more publicity, and many will not go hungry.

OpenStudy (empress*):

It must state a clear and concise viewpoint that will be supported with details through the body paragraphs of the essay~ and you'll find this a bit useful too~ https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/685/05/

OpenStudy (animelover98):

By grabbing the reader's attention, stating what you want to persuade the reader to do, and then providing your reasons, your thesis and opening paragraph will provide the reader with the information they need to fully understand your essay. Your thesis should be 1-2 sentences providing your reasons as to why the reader should do a certain thing.
