Convert the given coordinates to the indicated ordered pair: (1, - sqrt 3) to (r, theta). I have found r to be 2 but I am having trouble finding theta. Please help!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x = rcos(theta) y = rsin(theta), you can use either of those but I suggest x = rcos(theta) you can write it as x/r = cos(theta), since you know x = 1 and r = 2 thats 1/2 = cos(theta), then just solve for theta by taking arccos of both sides
