Medals Awarded - Which of the following is the volume of the cylinder below? (Image Attached Below) Help
\[V = \pi r^2 h\]
So: \[V \approx 3.14(9^2 \times 23)\]
yeah nut my answer is some long decimal @Unanimoose
Yeah you can just round it.
Most of the time it's just an approximate solution which is totally fine.
round 5,849.82 to what though? @Unanimoose
\[9^2 = 81\] 3.14(81 * 23) 3.14(1863) So you leave the pi there. That was your mistake. :)
It's 1863 times pi.
Sometimes you should try to leave it there if some answer choices have pi in them, which means it hasn't been distributed yet.
okay and i got 5,849.82 @Unanimoose
But yes if you had to insert pi then what you got at first would be the solution, but in this case it has not been multiplied quite yet.
One of the choices is 1863(pi). This is the same as you solution but without multiplying pi yet.
Do you get it now?
okay so is it units cubed or squared @Unanimoose
Cubed. It would be squared with 2D shapes, but this is 3D so it will always be cubed. ^_^
thanks @Unanimoose ++
Np. :)
hold up 1863 pi units cubed @Unanimoose sorry
The cubing won't be applied. The solution is just: \[1863 \pi^3\]
You won't have to apply the cube unless told so, which is unlikely.
