First time using this im blanking out right now. There is a building with offices in it. The number desks is quadruple the number of offices. The number of chairs is two times the number of desks. Let y represent the number of offices. a. List the factors that are to be multiplied to determine the total number of chairs in the building. b. When simplified what is the degree and classification of this expression?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

quadruple means 4 times

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

offices = y desks = 4y chairs = 2(4y) = 8y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the medal is that all i need ?

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Part a. is: 2, 4, y Those are the factors.

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Now you need part b. When simplified, 2 * 4 * y = 8y Since y is the same as \(y^1\), that is a first degree expression. Also, since the expression 8y is a single term, it is a monomial. Putting it all together, 8y is a first degree monomial.

ohh ok cool it makes sense thank you much much its actually really easy :D
