D. If you wanted a really steep hill for your roller coaster, would you use the graph of y = –2x2 + 6 or y = (-1/10)x2 + 8? Why? What part of the expression affected the steepness? I’d say the first one. E. Using the same reasoning from part D, create an equation that will be steeper than both equations and explain your reasoning.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

For part d, you are correct. The value of a is a = -2 and this is further away from zero than a = -1/10. That leads to a steeper graph.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

do you see how to do part e?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry one sec my niece just woke up crying

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

that's ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you so basically you just have another equation to explain reasoning?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yeah you have to construct your own and make sure it's steeper than the other 2 equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok gotchya B)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910 so im supposed to move away from 1/10 on a graph i think i messed myself up.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're on part e, right?
