Just an observation, but with what was taught in both the regular lectures and the recitations in unit 1, how in the world were we expected to solve the bit section problem from problem set 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The professor hardly went over bit sections. The solution to this problem is rather advanced for someone who is totally new to programming and has only watched the first few lectures in unit 1. Again, just an observation. That being said, the first 2 problems in problem set 0 seemed appropriate given what was taught.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well can you post the problems so we can help you understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

by the way dont worry tho, the couple of weeks are though been there :D and still there :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i remembered when i took java for the first time.. i was like dang i quit :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL!!!! I spent like 3 hours trying to figure the problem out and then I finally resorted to looking at the solution and when I did I was very depressed to say the least!! I wasn't even close.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but then again i stayed even tho i wasnt getting good grade, but guess what i ended up with an b average grade

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Trust me I'm not quitting. i just wanted to see if I was the only one having issues with this problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you post it here so people can help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Post the problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeh or a pic of it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure. Give me a sec. I'm new to open study. I think this is a great platform though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok so here is the link to Problem set 1. The one that I was referring to is the final problem in this problem set (Problem 3). https://www.dropbox.com/s/ypzoi84su6dx6o1/MIT6_00SCS11_ps1.pdf?dl=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm the code should be in python.. let me call some more prof people on that language

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ganeshie8 @Abhisar @saifoo.khan

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Sup?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hes having a problem understanding a section on his python homework. so can you please take a look at it and explain if you can

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Sorry. Can't Python.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i havnt learn python myself yet

OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):

Only Java.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm completely new to programming and one thing I've noticed from taking a few online courses is that things get very confusing really quickly. The learning curve is steep. I'll always get through the first few sections fine and then all of a sudden things get very difficult and confusing really quickly.

Hi Clabruno, If you are still working on this, I have just completed it (with some serious difficulty I might add) and would be happy to help explain how to do it.
