45+72 +x = 180
117 + x = 180
x = 180-117
x = 63
now
x+z = 180 as x and z creates a straight line
x+z = 180
63 + z = 180
x = 180 - 63
x = 117

another method (which forgot at first) is
z = sum of opposite interior angles
z = 72+45
z = 117
