What is the formula for volume of a TRIANGLE!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volume or area?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

volume

sammixboo (sammixboo):

A triangle doesn't have a volume, but a triangular prism/pyramid does.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so a triangular pyramid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yass thats what i meant @sammixboo

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Which one? Triangular Pyramid or Prism? They are two different things

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Triangular Pyramid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The equation is "base area x height x 1/3"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for both rectangular, and triangular bases

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

np

sammixboo (sammixboo):

The formula to a Triangular Pyramid is \(\rm \color{#20bd23}{V~=\dfrac{1}{3}bh}\) The formula to a Triangular Prism is \(\rm \color{#20bd23}{V~=\dfrac{1}{2}lwh}\)

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Where b = base h = height ---- l = length w = width h = height
