\[\lceil 5.1 \rceil +\lceil -2.01 \rceil\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\lfloor 3.9 \rfloor\] also this one too. I don't understand what im supposed to do. ive never seen this brackets in algebra 2 before

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is known as ceil and floor. Ceil gives you the closest integer greater than the input whereas floor gives you the closest integer less than the input.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its giving a greater than or less than sign???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

⌈5.1⌉+⌈−2.01⌉= 3.09

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\lceil 5.1 \rceil + \lceil -2.01 \rceil = 6 + (-2) = 4\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(\lfloor 3.9 \rfloor = 3\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhh okay thanks
