How do I become a moderator? Is it possible?

Moderators are selected by the Admins. They do so when they feel they need to, For becoming a moderator, you should be 18+.

Moderators are either members of the OpenStudy team or community members who the team feels have the qualities of a good moderator based on how they interact with other community members. It's really not that glamorous, but if you really want to be a moderator the only way to get there is to become an active, helpful member of OpenStudy and hope you get lucky when they decide to add more moderators. :)
