Why does Macbeth hire murderers to kill Banquo? "Why does Macbeth want Banquo dead?" was a separate question so I wasn't sure if there was a specific reason why he hired them.

i believe it is because he didnt have the stomach for it or it's because when he would be about to do it, he just wont be able to and stop

as for the second question, it is because the witch's prophecy said that Macbeth would have the throne, but Banquo's sons would rule the throne after Macbeth. 
Macbeth didn't want Banquo's sons to have the throne, he wanted the kingship passed down in his family so he decides to kill Banquo and his sons but the sons run away.
