Charles I was beheaded in 1649, that's about 40 years before the Glorious Revolution. During those 40 years you have the Commonwealth and reign of Oliver Cromwell, Charles II and James II. The Brits didn't like any of those arrangements so they went over to Holland and got William of Orange and his wife Mary (who was James II daughter) to come over and take James II place. It was relatively bloodless. It was called glorious because they ended up with a Protestant monarch who would sign on and agree to power limited by Parliament.
