You have $15.50 to spend on pizza. A meat lover’s pizza costs $12. Each extra topping costs $0.50. How many extra toppings can you buy? Graph your solution.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

eating pizza and meat together or in a small time frame is not healthy, do not recommend.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

if pizza has any milk it in,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you gonna help?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

so you have 15.50 dollars. 12 of them is the pizza itself. So you have 3.50 left for the toppings.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

so 0.50 is each topping. Then how many toppings can you get on 3.50 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I don't know if the 12 dollars for the first pizza include a first topping that would not be typically referred to as an extra topping, but I would assume that all toppings are extra, and thus the only first 12 dollars don't include that. 0.50 times 3.50 is how much?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

0.50 times 3.50 is not 4.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk what is it?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

it si 3.50 divided by 0.50. sorry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh it seither 4 5 6 7

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

you have 0.50 per topping, and altogether you can spend 3.50 on toppings. so 3.50 divided by 0.50 = the number of topings you can buy.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

(assuming that there is no tax in that location :) )

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\(\large\color{black}{ 3.50 \div 0.50= }\) \(\large\color{black}{ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~= 3.50 \div 5\times 10 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~= 3.50 \times 2 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~= ? }\)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

this is how I would go about calculating this without a calculator.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Yes ;)
