Should an estimate or exact answer be calculated? Then do the appropriate calculation. The sewing club needed 90 yards of lace to finish various projects. They had 2 rolls of lace that had 12 1/3 yards on each roll and 3 rolls with 24 2/3 yards of lace on each roll. Did they have enough lace to finish their projects? A. an estimate can be used to know if they have enough lace. 12x2+24x3=96 they have at least 96 yards of lace. B. The exact answer is needed to know if they have enough lace. they have 98 2/3 yards of lace.

@SolomonZelman

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Okay, So, the first 2 rolls of laces have \(\large\color{black}{ 12\frac{1}{2} }\) each. And, the other 3 rolls of laces have \(\large\color{black}{ 24\frac{2}{3} }\) each.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

So, what do you think is the amount of laces (in rolls) that they have overall?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it would be B correct ?????????

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

\[\large\color{blue}{2 \times \left(\begin{matrix} 12\frac{1}{2}\\ \end{matrix}\right)+3 \times \left(\begin{matrix} 24\frac{2}{3}\\ \end{matrix}\right)}\]

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

this would be the exact value, which you would have to calculate. which estimations tell me the exact answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks so much i appriciate all your help

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Anytime, just tell me what you get when you are done:)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

99 is the exact result. So did they have enough lace?
