Carrie's Catering is having a special on their box lunches. The minimum purchase is 10 boxes for $70. Each additional box is $5. If x represents the number of boxes over the minimum, which of the following equations represents the cost of box lunches during this special? y = 70 - 5x y = 70x + 5 y = 5x + 70 y = 70x - 5
@Maddox1000
It will be appricated if you could help :)
10 boxes for $70. Each new box is $5 extra.
x=extra boxes.
I got it thank you :)
Any more?
Yes just one second
A box company completed a study to determine the number of boxes an old machine would produce in an hour. They determined that the old machine produced 280 boxes in 4 hours. During its first day of operation, a new machine, after running a full 8 hours, produced 56 more boxes than the old machine would have produced in that time. Which of the following is true about the new machine? The equation y = 77x represents the production rate of the new machine. The equation y = 84x represents the production rate of the new machine. The new machine can produce 14 boxes an hour. The new machine can produce 7 more boxes an hour than the old machine. Submit
This a mulitple answer question
What is 56 divided by 8?
Its 7
Oh wait I messed up...
Its fine
Okay, so what is 280 divided by 4?
Its i think 70? right
Yes, now what's 70+56?
126
Messed up again, not too good at this. 280*2?
Haha its fine and its 560
@Paula14 ? You still there?
Oh
My internet is slow...
Yeah im still here haha and its fine
Old machine produced 560 boxes in 8 hours. New machine makes 56 more.
So what's 560+56?
Its 616
616 divided by 8?
Its 77
So we've eliminated C, because the new machine makes 77 boxes/hour.
Right
Now how many boxes did the old machine have again?
*make not have
I really dont know i apoligize
Old Machine=70 boxes/hour New Machine=77 boxes/hour What does this tell us?
Wait is this right? The old machine produced 70 boxes per hour. In 8 hours it would've 560 so in eight hours the new machine produced 616.
Here's what we have so far- New Machine-70 boxes/hour Old Machine-77 boxes/hour To find boxes/hour you dived the boxes by the number of hours
D is one of your answers
A is the other
