Prove that the two circles shown below are similar. Circle X is shown with a center at negative 2, 8 and a radius of 6. Circle Y is shown with a center of 4, 2 and a radius of 3.

one method would be to show the ratio of the circumferences is the same as the ratio of the radii.

use the ratio of larger to smaller radii: 6:3 or 2:1 circumference \[2\times \pi \times 6: 2 \times \pi \times 3\] simplify the ratio... the method really depends on the topic you are studying... but similar shapes have all measurements in the same ratio
