Simplify (4-8i)(2-7i) @waterineyes

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Remember that \(i^2 = -1\) just use your regular foiling method here. \[(4)(2) -(4)(7i) -(8i)(2)+(8)(7)i^2\]Replace your i^2 and simplify :)

OpenStudy (one098):

Oh ok. I got 8-44+56i^2

OpenStudy (one098):

*44i

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry I am late.. :(

OpenStudy (one098):

No no its ok! But is that right?^

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

And what is i^2?

OpenStudy (one098):

i x i?

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

look at my fist post, first line.

OpenStudy (one098):

Oh -1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bean calm down.. :P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

She wrote : 44i..

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Oh yeah, I see that now.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Okay, so you have 8-44i +56(-1)

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

What do you get after you simplify that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A Medal. :P

OpenStudy (one098):

8-44i-56 -48-44i

OpenStudy (one098):

lol water

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Good job :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good.. :)

OpenStudy (one098):

Yay! Finally! Thanks!

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

No problem :)

OpenStudy (one098):

I have another one, but will make a new post.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Always remember that \[i^2 = -1\]\[i=\sqrt{-1}\]

OpenStudy (one098):

Oh ok.
