X^2 = 121

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11

geerky42 (geerky42):

Try take square root of both sides.

geerky42 (geerky42):

Then you would have \(X = \pm\sqrt{121}\) \(\pm\) because \(X\) was squared, so \(X\) could be either positive or negative.

geerky42 (geerky42):

Answer is not just 11. @iamabarbiegirl

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah thats what i did \[\sqrt{121} = 11 \] and 11^2 = 121 how is it wrong?

geerky42 (geerky42):

"Not just 11", as in 11 is not the only answer.

geerky42 (geerky42):

\(X\) could be \(-11\), because \((-11)^2 = 121\) @iamabarbiegirl

oh yeah that is true i didn't think of that i thought you mean i got the numbers wrong lol
