The idea is to isolate the variable you're trying to solve for! So you do everything in reverse :) for the first equation we need to get rid of the 3/4, so we do the opposite, multiply by 4/3. But whatever we do to one side we need to do to the other, so we multiply the right by 4/3 as well! Then just add 12 to both sides and you'll have x.
