can you get a negative result from pluggin in an element of the domain?
Sorry, the question was "What is the range of the function \[y=\sqrt{x-1} where x \ge1 ?\]
\[x \ge 1\]
right and I'm asking sqrt(x-1) <---will this ever be negative for any element of the domain?

uh... I'm not sure about that, sorry. ;_;
Let's think about y=sqrt(x) the domain is x>=0 but if I plug in any number from that set y is never negative it is only 0 or positive
