OpenStudy (perii224):

What are the odds in favor of selecting a face card (King, Queen, or Jack) from as standard deck of 52 playing cards?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/52 or 5/52 or 0.09%

OpenStudy (perii224):

These are the options.. 2:13 12:52 3:10 3:12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok give me a sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B. The second option

OpenStudy (perii224):

Ok Thanks :]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XD 12:52

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but I was too slow :P

OpenStudy (perii224):

Do you know the odds of choosing against a king?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No prolrm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4:52

OpenStudy (perii224):

These are the options 26/1 12/13 52/1 12/1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm, there are only 4 kings in a regular 52 deck of cards

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is 12:52 because there are three cards and they come in 4 different colors if u multiply them you get 12 which would lead you to say that it is 12:52

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that was the previous question

OpenStudy (perl):

odds (in favor) is defined as # favorable : # not favorable

sammixboo (sammixboo):

For the previous question, how many face cards are in the whole deck? Remember, there is 4 of each face card

OpenStudy (perl):

12:52 can't be right, that is probability (not odds)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are 12 face cards

OpenStudy (perl):

how many ways not favorable ?

OpenStudy (perl):

how many ways can you not choose a face card?

OpenStudy (cheesecakekitten):

i need help

OpenStudy (perl):

youre doing odds against picking a king?

OpenStudy (perii224):

Guys, The Answer Was 3:10

OpenStudy (perl):

it was supposed to be 12 : 40 which can be reduced to 3 : 10

OpenStudy (perl):

odds in favor # ways favorable : # ways not favorable 12 ways to choose face card 40 ways not to choose face card odds 12 : 40 ---> lowest terms ---> 12/4 : 40/4 ---> 3 : 10

OpenStudy (perii224):

Ok Thanks
