OpenStudy (twizttiez):

A balloon’s circumference decreases at a constant rate. The graph shows the balloon’s circumference over time. What is the slope of the line that represents the situation? Enter the slope as a decimal. http://static.k12.com/calms_media/media/1512000_1512500/1512349/1/e682f410896cc483335c976d46f50fd393bb1abb/MS_IMC-140516-100013.jpg

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

@Algorithmic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the graph goes in a downward route the slope must be?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

A negative?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Wait nvm i got 5.8 somehow

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

@Algorithmic

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are correct it would be a negative. How did you get 5.8?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

At first i guessed it would be negative (sorry for guessing then i just used slope formula

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hmm, do you know what slope is?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Nvm i redid what i did and got it completly

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Wrong how would i find the slope correctly?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, slope is the change in \(x\) over \(y\). You can find the slope between two set points, by find how much is \(x\) and \(y\) to the next point. Some call this rise over run, are you familiar with such a term?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Yeah I've heard it before

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Never fully understood what it meant though

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, take a look at this picture: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/SD8Vb8A-kKE/hqdefault.jpg Can you see how to apply this concept to your graph?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Ok that makes alot more sense

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Could you help me with a few more i think i know the answer to this next one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Manuel builds and sells wooden crates. He made a table to show how much his crates cost. How much will he be paid for 7 crates? $ Manuel’s Crates Crates 2 4 6 8 Cost 25 45 65 85

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

I did 25/2 then i got 12.5 then i did 12.5*7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is incorrect.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

And got 87.5

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

D: ok time to learn what did i do wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Try this: Plot the points on a graph, and draw a line through them, then look at \(x = 7\) and find \(y\).

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Would the correct answer be 75?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No. The value has to be between: \(45~and~65\) remember.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

But he get 65 for 6 crates a 7th crate would make it above that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oops, yeah. The correct answer is 75. Sorry.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Oh ok lol you almost messed me up xD do you have time for a few more?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Wait nvm your all good thank you for always being so helpful :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem, you are welcome.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Will you be on tomorrow i will most likely need your help again

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Maybe, I get on when I have the time.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Ok well if you're on i will tag you in all of my questions ^_^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, I will help you if I can.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Thanks so much! bye :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You are welcome, take care.
