In Uganda, the Rwenzori Mountains are an important part of the environment. The Nile River flows through them, and they hold many endangered species. This area has been threatened by civil war from 1977–1986 and again in 1997–2001. Rebel soldiers and poachers did great damage to the local wildlife during this time. Fortunately, the government of Uganda and environmental groups have been working together to save this important area for future generations.
This is an example of ways that humans impact the environment. ways that animals are threatening to humans. ways that governments destroy the environment. The ozone layer is very thin.

South Africa must concern itself with marine pollution. South Africa is especially vulnerable to oil spills due to the high volume of oil transported around the country's coasts by ships from the Middle East to Europe and the Americas. The South African Department of Transport and the Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism cooperate to ensure both prevention of oil spills and clean-up in the event of accidents. Measures supported by the Department of Transport include the maintenance of at least a 12 mile distance from the South African coast, prosecution of ship owners if any oil is discharged from their ships, control of aircraft patrols over shipping lanes, and contingency plans for any oil spills that occur. http://www.corrosion-doctors.org/AtmCorros/mapSA.htm According to the passage above, oil spills are cleaned up and prevented by the South African government. tourists. citizens. oil companies.
