Could someone please explain this to me? I don't understand it.

The pictures below represent Figure A and Figure B. Now, I'm supposed to figure out which figure proves the Pythagorean Theorem. When I solve the hypotenuse for figure a, the numbers don't match with the hypotenuse provided. The same goes for Figure B. What am I doing wrong?
