What do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a or d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Talk me through your working. We're here to help you, not give you answers :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@robtobey

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can't talk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol im just kidding

OpenStudy (anonymous):

For (2), can you change all of the numbers into fractional indices? It becomes a lot easier to simplify when you do.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

don't leave im thinking

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I won't leave, don't worry

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i need help can you walk me through it please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will if you stop tagging people

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i tagged because i asked like 3 minutes ago

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i can see whoes viewing my question and you weren't

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i thought you left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I was replying to someone else, I won't leave you until we're done, don't worry :) Okay, so we know that:\[ \sqrt[5]{8} = 8^{1/5} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i should simplify each one then divide?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what is this equal to? \[\sqrt[5]{8}*\sqrt{8} \]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

22.96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 8/5 sqrt 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We're not looking for decimals, we want an answer of the form 8^x. You're just putting these in your calculator aren't you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the identify: \[ a^b*a^c = a^{b+c} \]
