why is the fossil record an incomplete history of life? this is just for homework
Because with fossil records we only know that, and the assumptions. Like how can I say this... you only know what that provides you and the pieces put together. But who is to say that in 30 more years you find the second part of something or some other piece that just makes you change the whole perspective. Do you get what I mean?
i think i sort of understand
Yeah, what I mean is that with fossil records only a certain amount of things can be known. History itself, is very deep and will never be completely "recovered" or "documented". Because for example, what is it, umm I think it was during World War II, that the Nazis were burning art and such things to eliminate the culture of the jewish people and such, see that's a number of history we will never get back.
ok i get it thaks
okay haha sorry for it being long.
Our current understanding of the fossil record is incomplete because we haven't uncovered complete fossils of all the organisms that have ever lived.
