The perimeter of the rectangle is 64 cm. Find the value of x. Ya'll, I need help. I don't know the first thing about finding perimeters and such. Picture included.

Well the perimeter is when you add up all the sides. In this case it equals 64. A rectangle has 2 pairs of equal sides. It says one side is 11 while the other is 3x. A algebraic equation to solve this would be 22+6x=64 6x=42. x=7, your answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ohhh.. So I just add all sides and then solve for the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D. 7 11+11=22 so 64-22= 42 and 42 divided by 2 = 21 and 21 divided by 3 is 7 the 2 11s are for the known side lengths you divide 42 by 2 because there are 2 unknown sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes..

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Well that's what the perimeter is, to add up all the sides.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Any confusion?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, I got it, I think :) But thanks.
