Jane randomly opens a 24 page magazine. find the probability that she would open it up to a page tht is a prime number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so how many numbers from 1-24 are prime?

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

well a prime number can only be divided by 1 or itself, like 7 for example. 7 can't be divided by anything evenly besides itself, or 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the numbers are 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but hat would be the probability

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, so how many are there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9

OpenStudy (jadeishere):

I think Toms got it >.< Good luck ;P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank u jadeishere

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So 9 of the possible 24 numbers are prime, can you now tell me the probability?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u would divide 9 by 24?...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or no. 24 by 9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Probabilities are always between 0 and 1, and 9/24 is a lot bigger than one. It's 9/24 as you first thought :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank u
