How would 7.15 become a fraction? I know it would start with 7 but how would I form the 15 into a fraction?
15 would go over 100 I am pretty sure
3 over 20 or 3/20
J-bird would that be simplified?
Well, if you can reduce it you should reduce it
yeah
I was hoping that was kind of implied...sorry if it wasn't :)
3 and 20 have no common factor other than 1
Then I have a bunch of repeting deccimals I have no clue what to do with..
3/20 is equal to .15
It has to do with the place value of the last number to the right of the decimal. Any number to the left of the decimal is a whole number, but to the right of the decimal, it is less then 1. Now look at your number...7.15....the 7 is the whole number...now look at the last number, the 5, what place value is this in ? It is in the 100ths place, therefore, put it over 100. 7 15/100.....which reduces to 7 3/20 or if you need it into an improper fraction, it is 143/20
|dw:1417786481891:dw|
that would be 5/9
I'm not sure how to put this into a fraction like he steps to doing it?
i dont know how to explain it, i just know how to do it
7.15....the last number, the 5, is in the 100dths place....so put your whole number 7 and then make your fraction 15/100....now the 15/100 reduces to 3/20. So your answer is 7 3/20. Example : 3.012...the 3 is your whole number....now look at your last number, the 2, it is in the 1000dths place.....so we now have 3 12/1000....which reduces, but I am too lazy to do that. It all has to do with place value of the last number to the right of the decimal
