Is dwarfism a chromosome disorder or a gene disorder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dwarfism, or achondroplasia, is a chromosomal disorder.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought it was a gene disorder

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, you're right. It's a genetic disorder.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's definitely genetic... I'm sure this time. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's genetic because you can only get it if both of your parents are heterozygous: Example: Both parents are Aa, therefore, the only possibility that their offspring will be of dwarf genotype is if the alleles turn out to be aa, which is homozygous recessive :)
