I'm trying to figure out a basic Circuits problem regarding Kirchoff's Laws. Posted below more in a moment.

My confusion stems from the fact that it would look like there are two different currents running through the 3 Ohm resistor, due to KVL saying that the voltage drop across a closed loop should be equal to zero.
