first, the first of 1 unit to the left, you added 1 to the x "inside the parenthesis" so to speak, or in this case, into the exponent.. you shifted the function down by 4 units, because you subtracted 4 units from the overall 3(2)^(x+1) and finally stretched the function vertically by a scale factor of 3.
