Can someone please help me with coordinate algebra??
sure I can try :)
There are 4 leaves along 3 inches of an ivy vine. There are 20 leaves along 15 inches of the same vine. Which equation models the y number of leaves along x inches of vine? A) y = -x + 3 B) y = 1/4x C) y = 3x + 4 D) y = 4/3x

hang on
Okay, thank you for helping me :)
np and first u have to find the slope in order to write an equation do u know the formula to find a slope? :)
k so we know that y represents number of leaves and x represents inches of vine right? do u know hot to set up an ordered pair? sorry if i'm asking too many questions :/
Yes, slope is m = y2 - y1/ x2 - x1
great so we can create an ordered pair of (15,20) and (3,4) u got that @Answers101
Yes..
nice! :D m=20-4/15-3= 16/12= 4/3 do u kno how to find a y-intercept? :)
y = mx + b
ok there is a point-slope intercept form y-y1= m(x-x1) y1 is either 4 and 20, m is 4/3, and x1 is either 15 or 3 can u plug the given info and try to work out? :)
Yes, one sec.
k
I got 16/12. I'm confused.
that's the slope lets work it out together i'll use (15,20) so, y-20=4/3(x-15) y-20=4/3x- 20 y-20+20= 4/3x-20+20 y=4/3x make sense?
Kinda, yeah.
Could you help me with a few more?
sure :)
There are 56 blades of grass in 1 in^2 of lawn. There are 230 blades of grass in 4 in^2 of the same lawn. Which equation models the y blades of grass found in x in^2 of lawn? A) y = 58x + 2 B) y = -58x + 2 C) y = 58x - 2 D) y = -58x - 2
x--> in^2 y--> blades of graph so can u make ordered pairs?
x = 1 in^2 y = 56 ?
yeah (1,56) and (4,230) can u find slope?
174/3 ?
right which reduces to 58 then we plug our info to the point-slope formula y-y1= m(x-x1) I'll use (1,56) y-56= 58(x-1) y-56=58x-58 y-56+56= 58x-58+56 y=58x-2 :)
@Answers101
Okay, thank you.
Could you help with a few more?
sure what is it?
A spring stretches to 18 cm with a 70 g weight attached to the end. With a 100 g weight attached, it stretches to 24 cm. Which equation models the distance y the spring stretches with weight x attached to it? A) y = -1/5x + 4 B) y = 1/5x - 4 C) y = -1/5x - 4 D) y = 1/5x + 4
can u do me favor and try this one by ur own? and i'll help u if u get stuck :)
Would X be (18,70) & Y- (24,100) ?
100-70/ 24-18 = 30/6 = 5 Is that correct?
the steps r correct but the weight attached is represented as x and the distance it stretches as y can u check ur ordered pairs please :)
Yes, I'll be right back.
:D
I'm not sure..
I did the calculations but it doesn't add up to one of the answer choices.
@Godlovesme
k its m=24-18/100-70= 6/30 =1/5 confusing? :)
No, not that way..
gud y-24= 1/5(x-100) y-24=1/5x- 100/5 y-24+24=1/5x-20+24 y=1/5x+4 :D
Thank you.
my pleasure!! thanks for the medal gtg anytime u need help just tag me I'll do my best :D
Could you help with 1 more?
A student can type 174 words in 3 minutes & 348 works in 6 minutes. How many words can the student type in 8 minutes? A) 378 words B) 464 words C) 484 words D) 524 words
I got it, its B
YES!!! u r awesome nice job 1!
A candle is 7 inches tall after burning for 1 hour. The same candle is 5 1/2 inches tall after burning for 4 hours. How tall will the candle be after burning for 6 hours? A) 4 1/2 in B) 4 in C) 3 1/2 in D) 3 in
I know B is eliminated
give me a sec :)
I really really appreciate your help! :)
m=4-1/5.5-7= 3/-1.5 = -2 y=mx+b 7=-2(1)+b 7+2=-2+2+b 9=b so our eqn is y=-2x+9 6-9=-2x+9-9 -3/-2= -2x/-2 x=3/2 srry this isn't one of the choices I apologize for wasting ur time =0
No, you haven't wasted my time. What do you think the answer is?
