OpenStudy (rissyroo118):

How does the number of chromosomes in a female scorpion's egg cells compare with the number of chromosomes in her body cells? The eggs have half as many chromosomes as the body cells. The egg cells have the same number of chromosomes as body cells. The body cells have half as many chromosomes as the egg cells.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

Egg cells undergo meiosis and therefore have haploid (n) number of chromosomes. Somatic cells undergo mitosis and therefore have diploid (2n) number of chromosomes.

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

:)

OpenStudy (rissyroo118):

the answer would be the body cells have half as manY

OpenStudy (markchernioglo):

yup! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought The eggs have half

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Because a parent species gives half of its chromosomes to its eggs because then the other parent species comes along to fertilize the egg it gives half of its chromosomes to make a complete chromosome with the DNA of both parents
