sorry it's been way too long since I read that short story. but what you are supposed to do is look at the first few paragraphs and relate them to how they predicted or hinted at the end

yeah foreshadowing is basically when authors give hints that relate to what's gong to happen. flashback is when you think of a prior event (like let's say I'm frying an egg and all of a sudden I think to the last time I fried an egg and how it went) and how it relates

I'm not sure where the flashback was but I do remember that it was pretty important. Let me know if you need any other help :)
