Tom currently have 5 comic books. He had subscribed to get 5 new comic books each month. His uncle has 145 comics, but sends 5 comics to each of his 3 nieces each month. In how many months will they have the same number of comics? How many comics will that be?
tom's comic books will be 5 + 5x because he has 5 now and will get 5 each month. his uncle's comic books will be 145 - 15x because has 145 now and will lose 15 each month (5 comics for 3 nieces = 15) so we wanna solve for x when tom's comic books = his uncle's comic books so we're going to set them up so that they're equal and then we're going to solve for x. 5 + 5x = 145 - 15x can you solve for x now?
