Algebra help!!! Will give medal!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Godlovesme Hey could you help me in this last one???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5. Nicole rented a boat at $325 for 2 days. If she rents the same boat for 5 days, she has to pay a total rent of $892. Part A: Write the information above in point slope form: Write this equation in slope intercept form: Part B: Write the equation in part A in standard form (2 points) Part C: Describe the steps to graph the equation in Part A. What is the label of the x-axis? What is the label of the y-axis? What is the slope? What is the y- intercept? What is the x-intercept?

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

your problem is a bit silly, in a 2 day rent she pays a cheaper "per day" rate, than in 5 days?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's how my teacher gave it to me. 100% no changes lol

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

(2,325) and (5,892) are our ordered pairs can u find slope? :)

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

Well, I honestly don't know how to write these 2 different (one with a 162.5 per day, and the other with a 178.40 per day) functions as one line. I hope this is not what your teacher asks you to do, being that it is an impossible task. Nor do I think that it has to do with discontinuity, (of a combination of 2 lines that would make it piece wise). What I would do, is follow what God loves me, says.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea sorry im terrible at algebra

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

apply this formula, \(\Large\color{black}{ \rm{slope}= \frac{y_1-y_2}{x_1-x_2} }\) I am sure you've seen it before:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 2.53?

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

K slope is y2-y1/ x2-x1 (X,y) lets say (2,325) is ordered pair 1 And (5,892) is ordered pair 2 Y2 -> 892 X2-> 5 Y1 -> 325 X1 -> 2 So far so good?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup!!!

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

Nice! Can u find the slope? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it 189???????

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

YES!!! :D

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

Point-slope formula is y-y1= m(x-x1) M is our slope Let's use the (2,325) ordered pair Y1 is325 and x1 is2 so our equation is Y-325= 189(x-2) Y-325= 189x- 378

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

@mely1014 u there?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup!!!

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

K to write the equation in slope-intercept formula u only have to add 325 to both side which will give us y= 189x-50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

If u subtract 189x from both side it will leave u with the standard form

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

Got that @mely1014 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes and sorry my internet slow but yes

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

that's fine for part C our slope is 189 Y-intercept = -50 To find x-intercept plug 0 for y in the equation and solve for x can u do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im really sorry @Godlovesme I had a complication with my laptop and it was horrible!!

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

That's totally fine!! C:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Godlovesme btw can you show me how to do part A in standard form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Godlovesme

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

Sure :) standard form is ax+by=c Y=189x-50 so subtract 189x from both side Y-189x= -50

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you soo much. im might have to ask tomorrow for someone to help me in the end but that's ok thank you a lot.

OpenStudy (godlovesme):

My pleasure!! :D thanks for the medal:) I'll try to answer ur question tomorrow tag me
