An elevator takes passengers from the ground floor down to an underground parking garage. Where will the elevator be in relation to the ground floor after 12 seconds if it travels at a rate of 5 feet per second? Interpret the product.
@hartnn
Would the answer be -60 feet?
you can use the equation distance = rate * time
-60 feet is correct :)
Another question.
A hiker started the day at an elevation of 600 feet. He climbed 100 feet in elevation to his first rest stop, hiked down 200 feet in elevation to his second rest stop, and climbed 600 feet in elevation to his third rest stop. What is the average elevation of his three rest stops?
I calculated it as: 700 + 500 +1100 = 2300 and then divide it by 3?
correct :)
If I do divide it by three then the quotient is 766.6666....
Or should I put it as a fraction as 766 2/3?
approx 767ft
Okay.
