How fast do sound waves travel in air? How does this compare to the speed of light waves? Also, What is sonic Boom? Thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It definitely compares. Sound speed ranges from 300 to 340 m/s whereas light's speed is 3*10^8 m/s.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sonic Boom are those explosive sounds generated when shock waves of an object are generated when its particle travel faster than sound in air.
