Help please, In 2005, a store manager earned $55,250. In 2013, the manager earned $68,546 working at the same store. Let x be years since 2000, and y represent the manager's salary. Assuming that a linear function models this data, find and interpret the rate of change.

OpenStudy (mertsj):

(5,55250) and (13,68546) are ordered pairs of the function. Find the slope and tell what it means. The slope is the rate of change.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Well if it was a graph. You would find the the rate of change using the change vertically divided by horizontally. 68546-55250=13296 divided by the 8 year horizontal difference you get $1662

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

or you can use the slope formula which is basically the same thing

Thank you! I solved it.
