Help with the following: 1. An alpha particle is A. an electron B. a positron C. a Helium nucleus D. the first one to come out 2. A beta particle is A. an electron B. a positron C. a Helium nucleus D. the second to come out 3. A gamma ray is A. an electron B. a Helium nucleus C. an energetic ray of invisible light D. the 3rd to come out

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Hey there! let's do it one by one....what do you think for 1st one ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I suppose the 1st question is C. The 2nd is A or B. And lastly the 3rd is C.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

#1 \(\huge \checkmark\)

OpenStudy (abhisar):

A positron i s an anti-particle of electron which has same mass as electron but carries a positive charge. Read this for Beta Particle. http://www.epa.gov/radiation/understand/beta.html

OpenStudy (abhisar):

got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So it's an electron! A?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As for 3?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

As ?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

oh u mean Answer...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hahah sorry yes. Was C for 3 wrong?

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Gamma rays are actually High energy electromagnetic waves. We can say it invisile light rays cz it lies in the invisible region of white light spectrum.

OpenStudy (abhisar):

got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that seemed like a check mark hahah

OpenStudy (abhisar):

Yep....:)
