Can some one giveme an example problem of calculating newtons second law? If possible one where the mass is changing. Thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you're just asking for a variable mass problem then a very simple, but solid, beginning problem to solve is for deep space. Calculate the velocity of a particle as a function of its time-varying mass in deep space (Fexternal = 0). Assume an initial velocity of Vo and an initial mass of Mo.

OpenStudy (surry99):

consider standard rocket propulsion where the mass is changing as the fuel is being used to propel the rocket.

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

\[F= \frac{\mathrm d}{\mathrm dt}(mv)=m\frac{\mathrm dv}{\mathrm dt}+v\frac{\mathrm dm}{\mathrm dt}\]
