If you're just asking for a variable mass problem then a very simple, but solid, beginning problem to solve is for deep space.

Calculate the velocity of a particle as a function of its time-varying mass in deep space (Fexternal = 0).  Assume an initial velocity of Vo and an initial mass of Mo.
