can someone please help.I don't understand what I'm supposed to do. Place yourself in the following scenario: It's ten years from your high school graduation. You have the same talents and interests as you did then. You have accomplished much since you graduated. You need a new job. Now, find a job that interests you and get ready to apply. Consider the options below as you begin your search. Check print or electronic classified ads for a "real" position. This option will most likely be the easiest to research. extensive knowledge of the job. Ask them to assist you with the worksheet. Research a position using library and/or Internet resources. You can choose any job you want to. One of the ways you can organize the information that you find as you do your job search is to use a Job Finder Worksheet. This resource helps you locate and categorize the important details that you'll find in most job descriptions. Study the following example carefully; later, you will complete a worksheet on your own. Need Help? Choosing a Job: What do you want to be when you grow up? Choosing a career that interests you and makes use of your skills will help insure that you're not only good at your job, but that you enjoy doing it. Finding a Position: Newspapers have classified ad sections with advertised jobs, and many are available online. You can also find specialized career-help sites and company-specific employment sites. Your library and librarian may also offer assistance. Remember, the job does not necessarily have to be local. Locating Qualifications: Usually the minimum qualifications (education, experience, certifications, etc.) will be advertised with the job. If not, you should call or e-mail the employer and ask about these details.
Okay use me as an example... I want to become a software engineer. I've loved technology since I was 9. If I've graduated high school ten years ago, and still want to be a software engineer, but working as a clerk in Macy's isn't gonna cut it, what do I do? Get a new job. This time in the field I wanna work in. As I've said before I LOVE tech. It's my thing! I can fix laptops, cellphones, stuff like that, but I gotta make some serious money to pay off my student loans. Say I meet a guy who works at Google (which, actually, I did!) and he tells me all about the benefits of working there. making $100K a year, lunch made by chefs, free Android cellphones, etc. But it's hard gettin' in Google, so you gotta work your way up there! What do you do? Work for local companies that have similar jobs like Google. You gotta get familar with the field you wanna go in. Once you get to big companies (not Google but Dell, HP, Samsung) you got a lot on your resume. Then you see an ad for Google in the newspaper. You apply. Google sees you got a lot under your belt and says "Wow, you know a lot about software! You're hired! Boom, now I can fulfill my childhood dream. Sorry this is super long, thought it might help! :)
That actually helped a lot, thanks :D
