Do it in a reverse way. ABC ~ ADE ~ AFG (AC: AE)^2 = 16:(16+20) = 16:36 => AC : AE = 4:6 = 2:3 CE = AE - AC = 3-2 =1 Since CE = EG, EG = 1 AE : AG = 3:(3+1) = 3:4 (AE : AG)^2 = area of ADE : AFG = 36: x (9:16) = 36:x x = 64 Area of DEGF = 64 - 36 = 28
