In the figure, ABDF and ACEG are straight lines. If the area of triangle ABC is 16 cm2 and the area of quadrilateral BDEC is 20 cm2, then the area of quadrilateral DFGE is ..?

ABC ~ ADE ~ AFG

(AC: AE)^2 = 16:(16+20) = 16:36
=> AC : AE = 4:6 = 2:3
CE = AE - AC = 3-2 =1

AE : AG = 3:(3+1) = 3:4
(AE : AG)^2 = area of ADE : AFG = 36: x
(9:16) = 36:x
x = 64
Area of DEGF = 64 - 36 = 28
