OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

According to Newton’s First Law of Motion, if you roll a ball in a straight line in an open field, what will happen to the ball? A. The ball will continue on forever. B. The ball will slow down. C. The ball will not change its velocity. D. The ball will speed up.

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

Hey! this is one of the last 2 i have thank you for the help too.

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

im thinking B cuz it wont go on forever and it will change its velocity cuz its going forward unless it rolls backwars and D i dont think it will speed up

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

please why do you think is B?

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

Because I think that it will slow down eventually and the other answers to me don't seem to work with it. 1. Because the ball can't roll on forever. 2. I don't think the ball will speed up on a straight field because it isn't on a slope it's straight. 3. The ball WILL change it's velocity because it is going forward opposed to rolling back which will not change the velocity. 4. The ball WILL slow down because eventually it will run out of force.

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think this: after launch, on your ball acts the friction force due to atmosphere and due to contact with road, whose effect is to slow down your ball, so?

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

Hmm well I mean how would it speed up? What would make it speed up?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I don't think that your will ball speed up, since friction force is acting on it, and friction force is Always opposite to the motion of your ball, so your ball slow down

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

oops that your ball will spedd up...

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

Oh

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

Alright one more question.

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

wait no this one is easy but ill still show you What will happen to the passengers sitting on a train if the train comes to a sudden stop? A. Their bodies will move forward. B. Their bodies will move backwards. C. They will feel a force pushing them upward. D. They will feel a force pushing them downward. I say A because I literally just read about Inertia Forces which means a car starts, your body gets pushed backwards and when it stops you go forward. :D

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

please note that if e can neglect friction, then on your ball no friction forces act, so by the first Newton law, your ball will not change its velocity

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

so, my answer is: 1) if we cn neglect friction, then C. 2) if we take into account the friction, then B

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

But it should be A they can't be pushed upward

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

yes! that's right!

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

oh and also the question with the 10 force and 8 force it moved right? correct?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

yes!

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

I'M GETTING IT! :D

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

o! I think that friction can be neglected so A.

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

I turned it in and got 80%! :D I missed one doe XD

OpenStudy (potatoofhistory):

Thank you for the help though! :D i'll let you know if I need help with other questions in the near future! :D

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

ok!

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

Thank you!
