Is x-8 a factor of the function f(x)=(x+3)(x-7)(x+5)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this is actually a great question, even though the answer might seem obvious the factors of \((x)=(x+3)(x-7)(x+5)\) are \(x+3\) and \(x-7\) and \(x+5\) evidently \(x-8\) is not one of them, so your answer is NO

OpenStudy (shameless):

ok thanks but does x-8 equal 0 ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\(x-8\) is an expression with a variable it is not equal to any number

OpenStudy (shameless):

Thanks
