The change in skull size of hominids allowed for ______. Select one: a. more compact brains b. the presence of more sensory organs c. a larger brain d. more protection of organs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As hominids evolved, their skulls changed shape. As the brow and mouth areas of the skull decreased in size, the cranium increased in size. The answer would not be A, because an increase in the size of the cranium would indicate the brain itself is increasing in size as well. B would not be correct either, the number of sensory organs has not changed. D is not the right answer because the change is skull size did not really affect its ability to protect the brain. The answer would be C, a larger brain. The size of the hominid skull increased in order to make room for the larger brain.
