I think it's A. also.

The Gothic term in books is the tone that you receive from reading it. Gothic never lies in the setting of the novel such as a haunted house, or a graveyard. One may write a book about a haunted house but he or she may fail to make his/'her wording and tone dark and depressing, instead his writing/wording/toning may seem rather cheery and gleeful. What makes a Gothic book is the tone and style of writing, along with the setting, make the overall mood of your story dark. I would agree with choice A. :)
