what tis the prodct 3 x 4

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

in what way are you asked to describe the solution.... by using the discriminant...?

@campbell_st

OpenStudy (isaiah.feynman):

You can solve for x, and then comment on the values obtained.

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

well the discriminant is \[\Delta = b^2 - 4ac\] you have a = 9, b = -6 and c = 5 substitute and calculate an answer then the type of roots can be \[\Delta > 0\] real unequal roots, if the value is a square number the roots are real and rational, if not a square number real and irrational \[\Delta = 0\] the quadratic is a perfect square and so the roots real and equal. \[\Delta < 0\] the roots are complex. hope it helps
