OpenStudy (redsky):

Terry has completed 15 homework problems, and Susan has completed 9. Terry is completing 10 problems per hour, and Susan is completing 12 per hour. After how many hours will Terry and Susan have completed the same number of problems? (1 point)

OpenStudy (redsky):

3 hours 4 hours 5 hours 10 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm you know susan's line is S=12x and that terry's is T=10x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

susan's line is S=12x+9 actually

OpenStudy (anonymous):

plug hours in

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I always use brute strength to solve these problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

about 5 hours

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You don't need to use brute strength, just find the lines like Ednac suggested and set them equal to each other to see where they intersect.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then solve for x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@msasu25 i just like using brute strength but that works too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ah ok
